How important is personal prophecy?

A prophesy is a message from God. Most people "prophecy" their own thoughts, lies. True prophecy is always a rebuke or correction. It is important to hear from Jesus yourself. If someone prophecies over you, pray about it first and ask Jesus to confirm it - remember, every man is a liar, God is the truth.

    Always a rebuke or correction? I can agree that most of the time, it is a rebuke or correction. But sometimes, isn't it a call?

    @hannielebed God is not restricted. He does whatever He wishes. However, as far as I know the Lord has always called people Himself. churches have called many to work for them though. Jesus calls every one to whom the message of the gospel comes.
